Remember Vasantha Maaligai. The evergreen romantic hit of thespian SIvaji Ganesan. Released in 1972 Septem,ber 29, the film featured Sivaji Ganean, Vanisree, Balaji Sukumari and Nagesh in lead roles. Directed by K S Prakash, the movie had music by K V Mahadevan.
The movie was an enormous hit and celebrated silver jubilee run all across tamilnadu and in Sri lanka it created a record running housefull for over 250 days. Close at the heels of Karnan’s (re-released after digital restoration), plans are actually on by Srinivasan of Sai Ganesh Films to re-release Vasantha Maaligai after colour correction, cinemascope and digital restoration, especially too woo younger generation audience.
The movie to be released al over Tamilnadu on 7 December could be a celebrated event as All India Sivaji Ganesan Fans Association are taking every step towards it.
Srinivasan had released Gauravam many years ago to witness bumper opening in lots of screens.
According tp Sai ganesh Films, ‘ several films of the veteran actor will follow suit. It might be grand celebrations within the coming months’
Vasantha Maaligai had hit songs like Oru Kinnathai (T M Soundararajan), Kudimaganey (T M Soundararajan, L R Eswari), Kalaimagal (P Susheela) and Mayakam Enna (T M Soundararajan, P Susheela).
